Letting Go

I have seen that sometimes we go through stuff because of what we harbour inside of us. It can be intentional or not but we carry things inside of us, that they become so heavy for us to continue carrying. But what do we do, we continue carrying them because we’ve built our identity around them.

Different challenges grab a hold on us because we are the ones holding on them in the first place. Because you come from a poor background, you carry contentment in poverty that you don’t see any other way. Because your family has a history of certain diseases, you’ve automatically accepted that it is who you are and what you are meant to go through. Because you’ve been hurt before, you don’t trust anymore, being scared of history repeating itself. These are different burdens we carry, which makes the journey impossible.

Matthew 11:28-30 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

I just want to tell you that you don’t have to carry these burdens, you can break loose from them because you are not meant to carry them, if you do, your life will remain in stagnation. Choose to let go of them and experience the fullness of your life. When you offload these burdens to Christ, He gives assurance that you will find rest for your souls.

1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

It had become a matter of faith.

These words (1Peter 5:7) were written to the suffering saints in the early church who were experiencing intense suffering and extreme persecution. Peter wanted them to know that no matter what they are going through, all of their worries and anxieties can be thrown on the Lord, because he cares for us.

I want to tell you today that the burdens you carry have nothing to do with you but everything to do with who God has destined you to be. You see these beliefs root themselves in you so you get blurred out from seeing who He says you are. Preventing you from being the best version of yourself.

Your identity may be linked to your struggle but it is not your struggle.

Burdens are heavy, cast them to Him. Let go and be the best version of yourself. Let go and be who you are meant to be.

Let go and be freed in Jesus Name.
